Did you know that you can watch KTFQ-TV for free just by purchasing an HD TV antenna? The best part about free over-the-air TV is that once you buy the antenna, it should last you many years and you'll never have another monthly cable TV bill again! This technology has been around since the 1940s for free public consumption, but kind of faded in the 2000s as Cable TV grew bigger and bigger. Now that Cable TV prices have reached a staggering $123 average price per US household, antenna TV is finally making a comeback!
NoCable created a nifty tool that will show you if you can get this and other local stations with an antenna, and will even recommend the best antenna for your exact home's location.
You can check to see if this station is available on any of these platforms (and more) on this page.
Some local TV stations in cities across the U.S. will be changing their over-the-air broadcast frequencies between now and July 2020. As the country moves through ten phases of the "broadcast repack," some stations are switching their frequencies to make more airwaves or "spectrum" available for wireless broadband and other uses.
People who watch free over-the-air television with an antenna will need to rescan their TV set each time a station moves to continue receiving the local channel. No new equipment or services are required in order to keep your local channel access.
KTFQ-TV is scheduled to start its repacking process on 4/13/2017 and finish on 6/21/2019. After the repack, the RF channel (not digital) will change from 42 to 16. This means that to continue to view KTFQ-TV, you will need to rescan your TV after that scheduled completion date.
