On October 8th during a New York Comic Con event, a teaser trailer was released that had Stephen King fans everywhere excited about. Castle Rock is a town that appears in multiple Stephen King novels including The Dead Zone and Doctor Sleep, which is now becoming its very own Hulu Original show in 2018, produced by J. J Abrams.
The best part about this upcoming psychological thriller? The very recognized cast from previously released movies based on Stephen King novels, such as Sissy Spaceck and Bill Skarsgard. Bill Skarsgard recently gained everyone’s attention by playing Pennywise the Clown in 2017’s, It, while Sissy Spaceck played Carrie White in the original Carrie. Although the trailer mentions character names and titles from other Stephen King movies, such as Carrie, It, Misery, The Green Miles, The Shining, and Shawshank Redemption, they most likely won’t be reprising their original roles in this series. The show also stars Melanie Lynskey (Sweet Home Alabama), Terry O’ Quinn (Lost) and Andrew Holland (American Horror Story).
We know that the show will be intertwining all of the classic hits, but it hasn’t been confirmed on what the series plot will be centered around. In a recent press release, Hulu announced that the show, “combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.” They also confirmed that they’ve committed to ten full episodes for the first season.
The show will be released on Hulu in early 2018.
