4:00 PMThe Patty Duke Show
A year after winning an Oscar for `The Miracle Worker,' Duke played Patty and Cathy Lane, `identical cousins all the way' (and received an Emmy nomination for the dual role). Patty was an extroverted Brooklyn Heights teen, while Cathy was a quieter, less impetuous and more cultured Scottish lass, living with her relatives until she finished school. Vastly different in every way, the cousins nevertheless made a good team for getting into (and out of) mischief.

5:00 PMMister Ed
The hit sitcom about a talking palomino (voice of former cowboy star Allan `Rocky' Lane) and his young owner, Wilbur Post, was a galloping success (of course, of course). The series began in syndication in January 1961 and trotted onto the CBS schedule in October of that year, running until September 1965. In an interview, Alan Young, who played Wilbur, revealed that the horse chewed peanut butter to make it look like he was talking.
