8:00 AMLeave It to Beaver
The clean-cut 1950s sitcom, about young `Beaver' Cleaver, his brother Wally and their folks was a family favorite over its six-year run. Unlike most other sitcoms of that innocent era, the stories were told from the kids' point of view, with their stalwart parents always on hand to get them out of jams and give practical advice. In the '80s, the Beav and company enjoyed a comeback in a syndicated show, `The New Leave It to Beaver,' starring many from the original cast.

9:00 AMPerry Mason
Classic courtroom drama about an L.A. lawyer (adapted from author Erle Stanley Gardner's novels) who seemed incapable of losing a case, thanks to his brilliant deductive reasoning and his uncanny ability to break witnesses on the stand. The formula was as predictable as the verdict, but the long-running series (nine seasons) was crisply paced and beautifully acted. Nearly 20 years after the series ended, Raymond Burr returned to his Emmy-winning role in a number of successful TV-movies.
10:00 AMMatlock
Courtroom drama about a cagey Atlanta defense attorney with a down-home demeanor and uptown strategy. Many of the Harvard-educated lawyer's cases were on the sensational side and often decided by `Perry Mason'-like last-minute revelations on the witness stand. The stories were hardly intricate, but this proved to be Andy Griffith's second monster hit, and like his classic 1960s sitcom, it got a lot of mileage out of his considerable folksy appeal.
11:00 AMIn the Heat of the Night
A white Southern police chief and a black detective put aside racial animosity to solve crimes in a Mississippi hamlet. This tense drama was inspired by the Oscar-winning 1967 film, which was based on John Ball's 1965 novel. Despite the occasional health-related absences of star Carroll O'Connor (Joe Don Baker and Carl Weathers each briefly filled the chief's chair), the series had a hearty run, premiering on NBC in 1988 before moving to CBS in 1992 for its last two seasons.
12:00 PMThe Waltons
A popular, long-running drama about a close-knit family in rural, Depression-era Virginia, based on the experiences of series creator and narrator Earl Hamner Jr. Sentimental and often moving, the Emmy-winning series told stories of family trials, triumphs and values with great simplicity and honesty. Its genesis was a superb 1971 teleplay, 'The Homecoming: A Christmas Story,' which starred Patricia Neal. The TV-movie also featured Richard Thomas and several others who became series regulars.
1:00 PMGunsmoke
This landmark adult Western centered on Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City.
2:00 PMBonanza
Ben Cartwright and his three sons (by three wives) ride herd over the sprawling Ponderosa spread in 1860s Nevada in one of the most handsomely mounted and beloved series of all time.
3:00 PMThe Rifleman
A widowed homesteader raised his son on a New Mexico ranch and helped the local sheriff battle desperadoes using a modified Winchester rifle. The series aired during the heyday of the Western on network television. During the 1958-59 season, this show's first, the genre accounted for seven of the Top 10 shows. `The Rifleman' ranked fourth, below `Gunsmoke,' `Wagon Train' and `Have Gun, Will Travel.'

4:00 PMWagon Train
This classy Western followed the trials of a California-bound wagon train after the Civil War. There were regulars and some action, but the emphasis was on strong storytelling and top guests such as Bette Davis, Jane Wyman, Ronald Reagan, Lee Marvin and Joseph Cotten. John Ford even came on board to direct 1960's `The Colter Craven Story.' John McIntire replaced Ward Bond after the latter's death in 1961. The Bond shows aired in syndication as `Major Adams, Trailmaster.'
5:00 PMAdam-12
A `Dragnet' in uniform follows two L.A. street cops (Adam-12 is their patrol-car ID). This long-running Jack Webb-produced police drama debuted while the second incarnation of `Dragnet' was in its second season, and ran on NBC until 1975. An updated version of the series, `The New Adam-12,' had a short run in syndication beginning in 1990.

6:00 PMThe Addams Family
Comedy about a ghoulish household, created by the cartoonist Charles Addams.
6:30 PMHappy Days
A sentimental, long-running sitcom about life in the 1950s centered on the squeaky-clean Cunningham family in Milwaukee and their relationship with Fonzie, a motorcycle-riding Casanova who became a pop-culture phenomenon during the show's heyday in the 1970s. One of the top-rated series of its time, `Happy Days' withstood various cast changes over its 10-year run. The finale brought Joanie and Chachi's courtship to a happy end with an hourlong wedding that included Richie's return.
7:00 PMM*A*S*H
A beloved, multi-Emmy-winning series about Army surgeons cutting up amid the Korean War. 'War is hell. So is TV,' said Larry Gelbart, who developed the series for TV from the 1970 Robert Altman film. ' 'M*A*S*H' and the medium,' Gelbart added, 'were made for each other.' For 11 years (10 in the Top 20), the show deftly blended sharp, thoughtful humor with moving scenes of dedicated, stressed doctors trying to save lives---while clinging to their own sanity---in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.

8:00 PMThe Andy Griffith Show
Gentle humor and genuinely likable characters made Mayberry a beloved fixture on the TV landscape. A Top 10 hit throughout its eight-year run (it went out at No. 1), this low-key, down-home sitcom harkened back to a simpler time and place. Mayberry may be a state of mind, but the sunny optimism and simple virtues it represents have actually been set in stone--in a Raleigh, N.C., statue depicting Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son, Opie. `[The show's] central theme was love,' Griffith said.
