The show combines witty original characters, quick comedy sketches, surprises, and more.

3:00 AMLost in Space
The space family Robinson is sent on a five-year mission to find a new planet to colonize, but the voyage is sabotaged time and again by an inept stowaway, Dr. Zachary Smith. The family's spaceship, Jupiter II, also carries a friendly robot who endures an endless stream of abuse from Dr. Smith, but is a trusted companion of young Will Robinson (`Danger, Will Robinson' became the show's catchphrase). The sci-fi cult favorite was created by Irwin Allen, and inspired an uninspired 1998 movie.
4:00 AMSpace: 1999
A lunar colony is sent hurtling through space following a nuclear explosion in what was at the time the most expensive (at $300,000 per episode) series ever produced.
5:00 AMWar of the Worlds
A sequel to the 1953 film pits a covert team of scientists against insidious alien invaders awakened from 35 years of induced hibernation after exposure to nuclear waste. Loosely based on the 1897 H.G. Wells novel.
6:00 AMThe Saint
A pre-James Bond Roger Moore plays the urbane, Robin Hood-like Simon Templar, who may skirt the law, but always for a noble cause. Moore's tongue-in-cheek portrayal is perhaps the most familiar depiction of the popular character created by novelist Leslie Charteris. Others cast in the role include Vincent Price (on radio) and George Sanders (in movies). Television revivals of `The Saint' include CBS's `Return of the Saint,' with Ian Ogilvy; and six telefilms starring Simon Dutton.
7:00 AMBurke's Law
A homicide chief who just happens to be a millionaire brings a tony touch to the L.A.P.D., arriving at murder scenes in a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce. The cases he solves have some razzle-dazzle as well, with models, authors, show-business types and restaurateurs among the principals. A revival of `Burke's Law' appeared from 1994 to '95 with Capt. Burke assisted by his detective son Peter.
8:00 AMHere Comes the Brides
Engaged couples discuss courtship and become eligible for on-air weddings and paid honeymoons.
9:00 AMFamily
A classy, superbly acted drama about the middle-class Lawrences of Pasadena, Cal., this began life as a six-part miniseries and presented an unusually realistic (and often somber) view of everyday life. Mike Nichols was one of the show's producers.
10:00 AMMama's Family
Domestic shenanigans entangle a kooky Midwestern family and its sharp-tongued matriarch. Based on a series of sketches that ran on `The Carol Burnett Show.'

11:00 AMMayberry R.F.D.
A hit spin-off from `The Andy Griffith Show' about a gentleman farmer and widower who's elected to the Mayberry Town Council. Some of `Griffith's' most endearing characters---Goober and Aunt Bee among them---moved over to this series, and that helped ensure its popularity, at least for a short time, as a gentle depiction of small-town life. In three years, however, despite still-strong ratings, CBS pulled the plug in a cutback of rural-oriented programming.

12:00 PMCannon
Rough and rotund Frank Cannon was (in one sense) the biggest TV detective of the '70s. The L.A. PI was no `Hollywood god,' conceded his portrayer, William Conrad. But he cared and it showed. `Cannon' was a staple of producer Quinn Martin's detective stable for five seasons. It was up for a Best Drama Emmy in '73, and Conrad was nominated for Best Drama Actor in '73 and '74. A 1980 TV-movie had Conrad reprising the role, coming out of retirement to investigate a friend's reported suicide.
