How to Watch NHL Games Without Cable TV

There are many different options for watching NHL games including TV antennas, live streaming services, and official NHL apps.

NHL games are shown locally regional sports networks and almost never shown on broadcast TV that you can get with a TV antenna. These regional sports channels are beginning to show up on streaming services - albeit at an additional cost - so there are now a few different options to live stream NHL games. Check your favorite team's page below to see your options for streaming it's games online and on your TV.

Use a TV antenna to watch the games on your TV

NHL games are usually not on broadcast TV. However, NBC does occasionally show popular games during the weekends that can be had with a digital TV antenna. A TV antenna allows you to watch your local broadcast channels for free once you've purchased the antenna. This however requires your home to be within range of the local station that is carrying the game.

Using a streaming service to watch NHL Games

All NHL teams play most of their games on their regional sports network, which has historically been only available on cable TV subscriptions. Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) are not common on all streaming services, but when they do exist they are usually only available for an additional fee.

Some of the most popular live streaming services that offer regional sports networks are Hulu Live, YouTube TV, and AT&T TV Now. Click on your favorite team above to see if any of these streaming services offer your team's RSN.

The NHL also has, which shows all out-of-market games for all teams. Unfortunately, games on here are subject to blackouts if you live within what is considered the team's "home region".

If you find yourself trying to watch a game on that is blacked out, you will need a VPN to mask your location.

Removing Local Blackout Restrictions with a VPN

If you want to watch your local teams online via official NHL apps or streaming services such as Hulu Live, Youtube TV or AT&T Now, you may need the help of a VPN service to "mask" your location so that you don't get blacked out. VPNs are safe to use and our favorite service is NordVPN.
